Alison received a Bachelor Arts at the University of Alberta in Political Science in 2000 and a LLB at the University of Saskatchewan in 2003. Alison also spent four months working for the Federal Department of Citizenship and Immigration in Vancouver, British Columbia while in law school. As a Hearings and Appeals Officer, she gained experience in all aspects of advocacy in immigration matters. Alison returned to Alberta in 2003 to article with a large, downtown Calgary firm and focused her interest in the areas of civil and insurance litigation before being admitted to the Alberta Bar in Calgary in January, 2005. After taking a year off from law and travelling to Central America and Mexico, Alison returned to Calgary and focused her practice on the area of matrimonial and family law. Alison acts in both contested and uncontested family law matters and has experience drafting Separation, Co-habitation and Pre-nuptial agreements. She has successfully appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen's Bench for custody, access, and marital property actions. In November 2005, Alison received training in the mediation of family and divorce conflicts and plans to further her studies in the areas of mediation and Collaborative Law. Alison has been an associate at Bodnaruk Robinson LLP since September 2005. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Family Section, Alberta Law Society, and Calgary Bar Association. In her spare time she volunteers with the Southern Alberta Greyhound Association, an organization which finds homes in Calgary for retired racing greyhounds, and enjoys riding BMX bikes and kickboxing. |
